Importer Security Filing Exemptions

The Importer Security Filing (ISF) Exemptions are specific situations or types of shipments for which certain importers may be exempt from the requirement to submit an ISF to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). ISF, also known as the “10+2” program, mandates the submission of specific data elements by importers and ocean carriers for cargo entering the United States by ocean vessel. While ISF is a general requirement for most ocean cargo shipments, there are exemptions in place based on the nature of the cargo, the shipment, and the importing entity.
